Yesterday I met with a client and we got to talking about life in general. She told me the storyof when she got her divorce, had no job and no money. She was feeling very down. She said that then one day she went to the bathroom and flushed the toilet. That simple act suddenly made her think.
“I have a toilet..”
“I have running water.”
She went to take her clothes from the washer and into the dryer. She thought
I have clothes..”
“I have a washer and dryer.”
She went to make lunch and became even more thankful
“I have food.”
“I have a refrigerator.”
“I have a roof over my head.”
“I have heat.”
She said she realized that she was actually very blessed because she had these things while some people do not. That is what got her through a very tough time in her life and she said she still is thankful every day.
This seems like such a simple act but this small shift in thinking can make a big difference in our lives.
It is time to be Thankful for all that we have.
Not just in November, but every day for the rest of our lives.
